The villages of La Clusaz, St Jean de Sixt and Le Grand Bornand are set at 1000 - 1150m with the skiing starting at 1500 and rising to 2600m. The snow record is very good - the resort is in the Mont Blanc snow shadow, often attracting snow when other nearby resorts don't. In addition many of the slopes face north or northeast, protecting the snow from the sun, and trees shelter some sections too.
Snow cover is never a problem higher up (3m of snow depth) and lots of investment has gone into snow canons to ensure a great skiing surface is maintained throughout the season, even on the well-used runs back down to the villages and lower lifts. Both resorts hold their snow very well and provide good conditions all season. Even during the 2006/07 season where resorts all over the Alps were suffering, our guests managed to ski every day of the season.
In addition to the ongoing efforts of the incredibly hard working resort
staff to ensure the pistes are always skiable, the Etale sector in La Clusaz
has recently regenerated their lift system for the 2008 season. The cable
car dating back to 1961 has been replaced with a highspeed gondola/chairlift
duo running up to a mid-station, after which a cable car takes you to the
summit of Etale. They have also re-graded several runs here, opening up
the sector to all levels of skiers, and put in an additional 50 snow cannons
to ensure good snow coverage throughout every season.
The 2009/10 season enjoyed fantastic regular snow falls throughout the winter,
ending the season with several days of snow through the last 3 weeks. The
base levels were consistently high both at the top and bottom of the mountains,
with more fresh powder days than average.

our groups by visiting our Facebook
page. We will be updating it regularly throughout the season and trying
to keep you posted with the snowfalls.
