Hotel Floralp (Ski Weekender Lite)
Resort – La Clusaz
Hotel Floralp is a pretty 2* hotel, with a distinctive chalet feel, in an outstanding position in La Clusaz
On the edge of the resort centre, the hotel has amazing views of the Aravis mountains and ski slopes. It's very close to the ski lifts and to the lively town square with its bars, cafés and shops.
Ski Weekender Lite
The hotel has 20 bedrooms, mosty 2 person twin / doubles, with a few larger 3 / 4 person rooms and one smaller 1 person room. All rooms are ensuite with showers or baths.
The bedrooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floors. The rooms, and the rest of the hotel, are decorated in local Savoyarde style; polished wood with carved decorations, wrought iron light fittings and lots of quirky mountain-themed details. Most – but not all – rooms have a small balcony. The rooms on the back of the hotel are the quietest; those on the front of the hotel are next to the road accessing the ski lifts and have an amazing panoramic view across the resort centre to the Aravis mountains and the Cret du Merle ski slopes.
The road by the hotel is relatively busy during the day with skiers walking from the bus station to the ski lifts, but is very quiet during the night.
The entrance level (ground floor) has the hotel reception, a dining room where breakfast and dinner are served (please see the section “Food” for more details), along with an attractive salon / bar. This has an open fire, comfy club chairs and sofas and is a great spot to relax with a hot drink, or something stronger, after a hard day on the slopes. There is a sunny terrace area just outside which is open during good weather. Free wifi is available on the ground level.
The basement level has lockers for storing ski gear; you’ll head down here in the morning to put your boots on, before heading out a side exit of the hotel. It’s then an easy 150m walk to the bottom of the ski slopes and Beauregard and Patinoire cable cars.
The friendly owner Georges will be your main point of contact on a daily basis; our ski team is based 2km away, and is available by phone and during regular evening drop-ins at the hotel to help with anything you may need during your holiday.
Breakfast and dinner are included in your Ski Weekender Lite package staying at Hotel Floralp. These are served in the stylish dining room on the ground floor, which is for the exclusive use of hotel guests. Its large windows provide a bright and airy space to enjoy your meals.
Breakfast is served from 0730 through to 0930, and is a continental style buffet.
Dinner is served restaurant-style between 1930 and 2030. The evening meal consists of 4 courses, entrée, main, cheese and dessert.
The traditional and varied menu consists of hearty dishes and may include some local specialities like tartiflette and diots. You will be able to sample the local cheeses each evening and enjoy some fantastic home-cooked food.
The hotel also has a reasonably priced list of local Savoyard and other French wines priced from €17 by the bottle or €3.50 by the glass.
The hotel bar is next to the dining room and is a cosy spot with an open fire and comfy chairs / sofas. It serves hot drinks and a range of alcoholic beverages, which are payable locally on departure.
The hotel is situated on the edge of the centre of La Clusaz, on the mainly pedestrianised road leading to the ski slopes and lifts from the bus station. It’s just 150m from the bottom lifts, the Beauregard and Patinoire cable cars; this area at the bottom of the slopes has several ski shops, restaurants, bars and cafés and is a great spot to relax and people-watch. This area is also used as a sledging slope through the day and in the evening.
Another 100m further on is the town square, which spreads around the imposing 200 year old church. The square has many restaurants, bars, ski and regional produce shops, along with the toursit office, a pharmacy, post office and ATM just off to one side.
The rest of the resort centre spreads up both sides of the valley for another few hundred metres, up two main streets. La Clusaz is the liveliest of the Aravis resorts, with a dozen or so bars and a couple of clubs which stay open until the early hours. It also has the widest range of clothing and ski gear shops, including several where you can pick up all the latest designer snow wear.
Just up the hill from Hotel Floralp in the opposite direction is the bus station, from where you can catch a regular ski bus to the other main Aravis resort of le Grand Bornand. This takes just 10 minutes, and gives you access to another 90km of skiing, with some great rolling terrain and frequently empty slopes spread around Mont Lachat de Chatillon. The ski bus, and the skiing in le Grand Bornand, are all covered by the Aravis lift pass included in your Ski Weekender Lite package, so there’s no additional cost for this extra skiing.
About our Ski Weekender Lite Packages
We first offered our Ski Weekender Lite packages in 2013, to expand the range of accommodation we offer, giving a wider range of options for guests travelling on 3 day midweek or 4 day weekend ski breaks. Ski Weekender Lite packages – like all our holidays – still include the most important elements that allow as much skiing as possible with minimum hassle:
- Resort locations just an hour’s transfer from Geneva.
- Ski lift pass included in the price and ready for you on arrival.
- Afternoon / evening airport transfers included in the price.
- Half-board stays in well-located, friendly, comfortable accommodation.
Our Ski Weekender Lite holidays are the best value packages we offer. The Lite Package runs on a more independent basis than the Classic Package. Our own Ski Weekender staff are not permanently present at Lite locations, although they are always available by phone or during regular contact visits to help with anything you need during your holiday, and will still fulfill your airport transfers and check you into the accommodation on arrival. Some extras, which are included on the Classic Package, are not included on Lite stays – namely ski hosting, afternoon tea and evening entertainments.
Ski & Snowboard Hire
As with all our locations, we make sure the most convenient ski, snowboard and boot hire options are in place, to allow you to waste as little ski time as possible getting your kit hire arranged.
We will be parterning with a local ski shop very close to hotel Floralp, who will offer our guests a discount from their normal prices.
Exact details TBC very soon – you can see typical ski hire prices for other Aravis locations here in the interim.
If any of your party need them, we can help arrange ski lessons during your stay. We’ve been working for many years with ESF in le Grand Bornand, who give us exclusive use of English-speaking instructors for Ski Weeeknder group lesson courses which tie in with the short break format.
Small group lesson courses are possible throughout the season, on a 3 day Tuesday – Thursday or 4 day Friday – Monday format. We can also help arrange private lessons and 1 on 1 tuition.
For full details, including prices, please see here.
Ski Clothing Hire
At our locations in la Clusaz, hire of ski jackets, trousers, goggles and gloves can be pre-arranged. Please see here for full details and prices.
