Resort – La Clusaz / Le Grand Bornand
Enjoy all the benefits of the Aravis Lodge, at a lower price...
The annexe to our traditional Aravis Lodge, the 4 bedroom Chalet Aravis is our cheapest option for Classic package (fully supported) catered ski weekends and midweek breaks.
Ski Weekender Classic
Chalet Aravis, sleeping 8 people, is used as an annexe to the Aravis Lodge. Refurbished in 2006 in a Savoyarde style, all the 1st floor rooms are woodclad and offer views of the surrounding mountains.
The chalet contains 4 x 2 person (twin or double), non-ensuite rooms. There are 2 separate shower rooms, meaning that each 2 bedrooms share one set of washing facilities. One shower room contains a wc and is situated at the far end of the landing, the other has a separate wc next to it and it situated at the opposite end of the landing. This arrangement makes the bedrooms ideal for 2 families of 4, or a larger group of 8. We do also use the annexe for separate couples or individuals; dressing gowns are provided in all rooms for modesty. The chalet rooms are offered at a lower price than those in the Aravis Lodge to reflect their non-ensuite nature.
Chalet Aravis is immediately next door to the Aravis Lodge on the same private site, just a few seconds walk away, and has its own code-locked front door. Guests staying in the Chalet sleep and wash there; all meals are taken in the Aravis Lodge, and all of the Lodge’s facilities (including on-site ski hire) and social space (bar, lounges, gym, sauna) are freely available to Chalet guests. Staying in a separate building to the dining room may not be ideal for families with smaller children who would like to leave them in bed whilst they are eating dinner. Older children and teenagers should be fine as they can remain in the Lodge with the parents whilst they are eating.
All the rooms are lockable and the front door is also code-locked. Chalet Aravis has a separate ski locker room on the ground floor, allowing you to keep your skis and boots there, making for an easy exit in the morning, rather than having to make your way to the main Lodge bootroom every day.
Food & Bar
For guests staying Chalet Aravis, all meals are served in the Aravis Lodge, which is a few metres away on the same private site. The Lodge’s large, licensed bar is also freely available for the use of Chalet guests.
The bar is fully stocked with wines, spirits and beer (Kronenborg) and ale (Guiness) on tap. Most people congregate here between tea and dinner for an aperitif and snacks, and it will see most of the action after dinner. There is a separate section with a table football table, mini table-tennis and giant jenga.
We are told time and again by skiers that the food and wine we serve here really stand out compared to many ski chalets. We believe food is an essential part of a good holiday, particularly a ski holiday, which is why we ensure all our meals are wholesome, filling and delicious.
Our professionally trained chef team cook all our meals with care and attention using local suppliers and healthy ingredients. Our homemade cakes always seem to disappear in a flash at tea time too!
A generous allocation of red and white table wine is provided throughout dinner. The bar also has a wine list of local Savoyarde and other French wines, priced between €12 and €17 per bottle.
The evening meal on Wednesday night is not included on stays at the Lodge – this is the kitchen team’s night off. There are several restaurants right next to the Lodge, or a couple of cheaper takeaway options. We also arrange shuttles to La Clusaz centre on Wednesday nights, where there’s a wide range of different restaurants to choose from.
People with food intolerances, allergies or special preferences are well catered for in the chalet. We are particularly used to cooking a tasty veggie menu for vegetarians and consequently have been accredited by the Vegetarian Society since 2007, the only french chalet to receive this endorsement. In addition to veggies and vegans, we are also able to cater for coeliacs and guests with other dietary intolerances by including delicious wheat free cakes and deserts in our menus as well as tasty main courses.
‘I’ve never come across such amazingly good food… the boys on the vegetarian menu said it was the best they’d ever experienced and having tasted their dishes too I can see why’ Alison M, Jan 2011

Chalet Aravis and the Aravis Lodge are located in the heart of the small village of St Jean de Sixt, just an hour’s airport transfer from Geneva, ideally located between the two Aravis ski resorts of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, only 5 minutes from each.
Access to the lifts and slopes is via our free shuttle service – we run you out in our own minibuses in the morning and back in the afternoon – or via a free ski bus which runs every 30 minutes through the day. In either case, access to the skiing is just 5 minutes away.
There are 3 restaurants, 3 bars, an ATM, post office, mini supermarket and several ski gear and regional produce / gift shops very close to the Lodge – from a few seconds to a couple of minutes walk.
For guests looking for a night out in the centre of resort, we can arrange lifts up to La Clusaz after dinner on an ad hoc basis, and can provide contact details for local taxi companies to book a lift back at the end of the night. La Clusaz has a dozen or so bars and 2 clubs which stay open until the small hours of the night.
