The region is well known for the local events held here during the Winter ski season. Any excuse for a party - there are normally one or two extraordinary events taking place every month throughout the season for which the locals turn out in force - normally in fancy dress! Join them this year for one of the following unmissable events this winter. Currently actual dates for these events are yet to be confirmed. Check back here soon for specific event dates.
December 2010
Rediscover the magic of Christmas with this wonderful weeklong festival consisting of games, street entertainment and concerts - all overseen by Father Christmas, his elves and the beautiful lights of La Clusaz. The excitement starts on Christmas Eve when a procession of Father Christmases ski down into La Clusaz by torchlight, followed by a fantastic fireworks display and refreshments in the main square. This is the 11th Pestacles du Noel.
February 2011
Just like the Rio Carnival, only in -12 degree temperatures and surrounded by snow! Fantastic costumes, huge headdresses and stunning floats wind their way through the streets of La Clusaz accompanied by carnival percussion music and finished off with a spectacular firework display. The Carnival has become quite an institution in La Clusaz now!
2011
A lovely event for all mountain lovers - experience the pistes in the quiet of night by the light of the full moon. The main lifts running out of La Clusaz open from 10pm - 1am allowing you to ski the main Cret du Merle piste down to the village, stopping en-route to enjoy a vin chaud in a lively mountain bar lit by fire torches and often with live music. A real party atmosphere abounds in the village centre too. We invited Caitlin Moran from The Times to a full moon party, read what she had to say here.
March 2011
A weekend dedicated to the best freestyle skiers and boarders in the world - unmissable! The freeriders of La Clusaz turn the La Balme sector into an enormous playground of jumps, rails and kickers hundreds of feet high. Combined with plenty of reggae music and a great party atmosphere this event will inspire all wannabe tricksters!
April 2011
A surreal end of season event enjoyed by young and old alike. Locals design sliding objects to toboggan down a piste to try and travel as far as possible over the Lac de Confins lake before losing momentum and sinking! The person who travels the furthest across the lake before sinking - wins!
